Sara Buckallew is a strategic communications professional with a knack for uniting stakeholders in a shared mission through data-driven strategy and deliberate execution. Sara’s rich work history includes coalition building, digital communications and strategic planning for nonprofit organizations, higher education and biosciences.
Prior to joining GBSM, Sara worked as a communications manager for two nationally recognized research centers at Indiana University. There, she established reliable communications systems to support hundreds of internal constituents while engaging local and global audiences.
Throughout her career, Sara’s thoughtful counsel guided planning in executive communications, major campaigns and events, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategies, digital marketing and crisis communications. Notably, Sara’s use of creative multimedia tactics deliver compelling and easy-to-understand narratives about highly complex subjects that resonate with key stakeholder groups including advocates, government and regulatory agencies, media and potential funders.
Before relocating to Colorado, Sara spent two years serving on the executive board of an Indiana-based nonprofit organization focused on improving health. There, she lent her expertise in media relations, communications planning and digital marketing to initiatives in public engagement, gift development and community outreach.
Sara holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and public relations from Indiana University. She is a proud Hoosier, who enjoys practicing yoga, answering grammar questions and exploring the great outdoors.
