Holly Shrewsbury

Holly Shrewsbury is a seasoned communications strategist deeply rooted in the Colorado community. With more than 25 years of experience in the in the private, public and nonprofit sectors, she is an expert at leading strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, public affairs and crisis communications efforts at the local, state and federal levels.

Prior to joining GBSM, Holly was the principal of HMS Communications specializing in media and public relations for a diverse range of clients. In this role, she developed public relations and stakeholder engagement strategies for a national power provider, served as an advisor to city officials on crisis communications issues, and helped create economic development marketing campaigns for the Denver Metro Economic Development Commission.

Holly has served as communications director for numerous statewide political campaigns.

Holly served in Colorado state government for 12 years, where she held roles as the communications director for Lt. Gov. Donna Lynne and the interim communications director for Gov. Hickenlooper. She also served as Deputy Communications Director in the Colorado House of Representatives.

Holly’s experience includes serving as director of communications for the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) and public relations manager for the Denver Botanic Gardens. She began her career in production at CBS4 Denver.

Holly is an active member of Colorado’s nonprofit community and is passionate about using her knowledge and skills to help children succeed. She serves as a founding board member for Boys Team Charity (btc) Slopeside. Holly was also a founding board member of Winning Over Wounds (WOW), was on the board of the University of Colorado Boulder’s Board of Alumni Advisors, served on the Advisory Board of the Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross, and is a graduate of the Leadership Denver Class of 2021.

Holly received a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder. She resides in Denver with her husband and two active sons.
