Prior to joining GBSM, Scott served as the Assistant General Manager of Communications for Denver’s Regional Transportation District (RTD), working his way up from an entry-level position to the C-Suite. Scott managed all communications efforts including public relations, marketing and advertising, government relations, customer care, social media and digital strategy, media relations, and served as the agency’s official spokesperson. While with RTD, Scott delivered more than 30,000 media interviews and official statements on crucial issues ranging from service expansion and leadership transitions to labor relations and fatalities.

Scott also led RTD’s official communications efforts during the successful multibillion-dollar FasTracks ballot initiative in 2004, at the time the largest ever U.S. transit initiative. Following its passage, he led the team of professionals that executed the complex communications program that included public-private partnerships, the first rail line licensing agreement in RTD’s history, environmental clearance, years of construction and multiple grand openings

While Scott was at the communications helm, RTD twice won international Agency of the Year awards from the American Public Transportation Association, as well as dozens of marketing and advertising excellence awards. He also directed departmental reorganization and evaluation processes to improve efficiencies and service delivery.

Scott’s varied career took him to the newsrooms of the Boulder Daily Camera and the Wyoming State Journal, and into events management and marketing for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the University of Colorado.

A Colorado native, Reed earned his Master of Public Administration and his bachelor’s in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Colorado. He also completed the Eno Foundation Executive Leadership Program and received a Certificate of Advanced Marketing from the University of Colorado.

Outside of work, Scott enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, hiking, whitewater rafting, and has been an adult literacy volunteer in his community. He estimates he has taken more than 25,000 trips aboard public transit systems throughout the world.
