Andrea Pawlak is a communications strategist and public affairs specialist with more than 10 years’ experience helping corporations, governments and nonprofits effectively engage stakeholders and solve unique business challenges of all kinds.
At GBSM, Andrea works extensively with local municipalities and transit agencies to implement public involvement programs for urban planning and infrastructure improvements. She was part of the team that defined and launched Denver’s first integrated citywide planning effort (Denveright), and has also worked throughout the suburbs and Colorado mountain communities on issues related to improved transit and high-speed rail. Andrea has helped guide organizations through large scale repositioning efforts and has also worked with nonprofits to advocate for significant education and healthcare reforms throughout the state. Internally, she leads GBSM’s business development efforts.
Andrea began her career at Res Publica Group in Chicago, focusing primarily in the development, healthcare and education industries. Her work helped secure state and federal approvals for the milestone redevelopment of military housing at Naval Station Great Lakes. She also helped community hospitals navigate state regulatory processes and advocated for historic medical malpractice reforms. Prior to GBSM, Andrea also worked in the corporate communications and public affairs division of Boston-based Schneider Associates.
Andrea is a graduate of the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College, where she received a bachelor’s degree in television and radio and minors in public relations and English. She has also pursued graduate work in journalism and education at Northeastern University and the University of Massachusetts, respectively. A graduate of the Downtown Denver Leadership program, Andrea is also deeply involved in Denver’s yoga and fitness community and has helped local studios plan and produce events and festivals. An east coast transplant at heart, Andrea now calls northwest Denver home, along with her husband and two daughters.
