Andrea Cunningham is a communications consultant specializing in stakeholder engagement, government relations, media relations, regulatory-agency coordination and organizational management.

Andrea began her career at Res Publica Group, a public affairs consulting firm in Chicago, where she planned and executed strategic communications efforts in the development, health care and education industries. Andrea was instrumental in the public involvement and state and federal approval processes surrounding the milestone redevelopment of military housing at Naval Station Great Lakes. She also played key roles in helping community hospitals expand through the state’s certificate of need board, and in the stakeholder communication and advocacy efforts that helped pass historic medical malpractice reforms in Illinois.

Prior to GBSM, Andrea also worked in the corporate communications and public affairs division of Boston-based Schneider Associates. This work was predominantly focused on assisting real-estate developers in their efforts to build community support and gain state and local approvals for mixed-use developments. 

Andrea is a graduate of the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College, where she received a bachelor’s degree in television and radio and minors in public relations and English. She has also pursued graduate work in journalism and education at Northeastern University and the University of Massachusetts, respectively.
